Opportunity Overview

April 23, 2020

This is a virtual event.

The Association of British HealthTech Industries is holding a webinar, which will be lead by “expert speakers, including Brian Lewis, President and CEO, Medtech Canada and Mike Canzoneri, President and CEO, Canadian Hospital Specialties, who will provide insights as to the opportunities associated with doing business in the market.”

According to the ABHI:

“The Canadian Government’s Innovation Agenda has sent a strong message that the country is open for business. As such, Canada is fast becoming a HealthTech powerhouse. Home to more than 1,500 HealthTech companies, it is the eighth largest market in the world, with a valuation of $6.8 billion. With HealthTech imports at $7 billion, there is strong demand for value-based, proven technologies that can deliver improved care.

That Toronto will host the first AdvaMed MedTech Conference outside of the US later this year, further demonstrates the growing pull of the Canadian HealthTech market.

In addition, Canada has a strong international reputation for its capacity to participate in cutting-edge R&D, with 60% of top-cited international researchers surveyed indicating that Canada hosts world-leading infrastructure or programmes in their fields, including the National Research Council’s Medical Device Research Centre. Canadian sector clusters include image guided therapy, in-vitro diagnostics, connected health and artificial intelligence.”
